Apple and Orange Porkchops
Brown together 8 pork chops and one tablespoon of shortening Season the meat to taste with salt and pepper Remove the chops from the pan and pour off the drippings (SAVE 2 TABLESPOONS). Cook together: 1/2 cup chopped onion and the 2 tablespoons of drippings Put onion in a lightly greased 3-quart casserole dish and add: 1 cup uncooked rice 1 1/2 cups water 1 cup diced, peeled apples 1 cup diced orange sections 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 1/8 teaspoon poultry seasoning Cover and let bake at 350F for 45 minutes 4-6 servings
